If you think youre no good in making artworks and simply settle on drawing stick figures, well think again. Theres alchoices that artist in you which is waiting to be unleashed. All it needs is a little encouragement, time, effort, practice, patience, and of course knowledge about the craft to let your imagination flow and be turned into a beautiful work of art.

You dont have to be an artist to be called one. With the right knowledge, resources, and a little skill, youre off to creating that beautiful design that you will sure be proud of. Now, why dont you start with stenciling, the process of making an image using color application on a stencil, leaving a reproduction of that image on the surface underneath?

If you are thinking about redecorating your home, then stenciling is the one for you. Whether you want to put some new designs on your walls, furniture, glass materials, and fabric, stencil designs will provide that beautiful results that you desire. Okay, so youre not an artist, right? No worries. All you need is a little research on stenciling. First, acquaint yourself of what a stencil is.

Then, explore the other materials that you need to use such as the paint brush, either large or small, and paint, which could be acrylic or fabric, depending on the material where you want the image of the stencil to be. Now, choose the stencil design that you want. Are you thinking about redecorating your kids rooms walls? Why not stencil their names on the wall, on top of their bed? Or how about accentuating your kitchen? You can alchoices pick up kitchen utensil designs, foods, or just a simple line, "Dinner is ready" and stencil them on your kitchen wall. With stenciling, there is really no limit. Whatever your imagination reaches, you can go as far beyond that.

But hey, stenciling can be done not only at home but also in the office. You can even use it for your business. In the office, if you have a desk of your own, you can alchoices use some stencil designs to make it look more personalized. That choice, even from afar, your colleagues will know that its your desk, and not anybody elses. For your business, instead of hiring someone and pay him for doing some stenciling job for you, why not do it yourself?

You do not only get to control what design you want but you also get to enjoy savings from not hiring someone to do it. But the more rewarding part is that, you get to realize that theres that creative side in you that just waits to be explored. And you did it, through stenciling!

Stenciling can really do a lot for you, whether at home or at work. But apart from providing elegance in your workstation or your home, it can actually do more than that – and that is to take out the artist in you. Never doubt your creative skills because only you can take advantage of that. Who knows, you might even discover more about your creative side if you learn more about stenciling.

To further educate yourself about this craft, you can alchoices search online for tutorials or you can go and ask a friend, who is into stenciling, for more information.

When Im not woodworking (or talking about woodworking or going to a woodworking conference) Im a project manager for Roof Services, a large roofing and waterproofing firm on Long Island. In that role Ive been lucky enough to connect with the nice folks at Fine Homebuilding to record a few of our recent residential projects. I had a full length article on residential flat roofs in the June/July 2012 issue (#228).
My Coworker Tom, during a video shoot at the Fine Homebuilding Project House.
A few weeks ago I shot a short video with Fine Homebuilding, explaining how to bend copper chimney flashing from sheet copper. The video was released yesterday on the Fine Homebuilding web site. Ive had a chance to watch it, and thanks mostly to their great editing ability, I think its pretty good. Im certainly proud of it.

If you like mixed media in your woodworking projects, there are bits in here you can pick up that will apply to any sheet metal you may fabricate with. If youre only into woodworking, then Im sorry youll have to wait for my next post. I was in the middle of writing a review of Maurice Pommiers Grandpas Workshop, but the release of this video was too exciting to pass up. The review will come next week, along with more woodworking.
